Texana Designs Cardinal and Holiday Spirit

The Background for both of these cards were pieced together scraps of paper.  I matched up the edges of two pieces of scraps and put a piece of scotch tape on the back to hold them together.  I then used my sewing machine set to a wide zigzag stitch and sewed over the edges catching both pieces with each stitch.  Then I added another piece and repeated until I had a piece big enough for a card front.  I then used my paper trimmer to square it up and even the edges.

I stamped the sentiment Texana Designs 60901L Holiday Spirit (large) right onto the background paper that I created using VersaFine Black Onyx ink
For the cardinals I used white cardstock and my VersaFine Black Onyx stamp pad.  VersaFine is my favorite ink for stamping.  It gives great detail and because it is an oil-based pigment  ink it not only gives an opaque stamped image, but is water resistant.  This is important to me because I color most of my images with either distress markers, watercolor crayons, Pearlescents watercolors, or Prisma Pencils and Gamsol.  I love that my image doesn't bleed.
That being said I used Texana Designs TD008—Cardinal stamp and colored them with my Ranger Distress Markers.  I added some Xmas Red Stickles to the holly berries.  Once I finished coloring the cardinals, I fussy cut the out and glued them to my card fronts.
I then matted the pieced background and mounted it all to my card fronts.
