Birthdays are meant to last

At least that is my take on it. I like to make my birthdays last as long as I can. I will celebrate with whoever asks. I started last Sunday. Michael and Amy wanted to take me out for lunch, but I requested a simple meal at their house instead. They were glad to oblige. So Michael had all the fixings for sub sandwiches and BAKED me a chocolate cake. Since we were staying in they asked Zach and April to come too. I tell you...that was the best time. Watching my big boys roll around on the floor with my little boys was amazing.
My big boys not only love their own babies, but they love each other's babies also. I loved just sitting and watching them all play. Some of the best memories were made that afternoon.
Yesterday afternoon, my good friend, Kathy brought me an awesome salad from Johnny Carino's for lunch and spent the afternoon with me. We have been friends for a long time and she has never missed doing something special like this for my birthday. She knows how I love veggies and how my husband doesn't, so she makes it a point to see that I get to enjoy things I might not ordinarily get.

Last night, my brother, Skip, took me to see Mamma Mia at the Alamo Draft House.

What a wonderful feel good movie it was. I have always liked musicals and it is nice to see some making a comeback. Probably due to all the dancing reality shows on TV right now. Dancing with the Stars and So you think you can Dance are two of my favorites.

Today is my actual Birthday and I woke up to some beautiful flowers, a card, and a chocolate cake with cream cheese icing sitting on my computer desk. I am spending the day with Drake and Adler. Nothing like getting birthday hugs and kisses from my little guys.

I have gotten lots of phone cards, email wishes, and birthday cards in the mail from all my friends. I definitely feel loved!!!

Tomorrow will be my celebration with my sweet husband. We are planning a trip to San Antonio. I will get to visit some of my favorite scrapbooking stores and have dinner on the Riverwalk.

Birthdays are fun things to celebrate, but I stopped counting years at 40. Someone sent me a great quote by Mark Twain the other day.

“Age is an issue of mind over matter. If you don't mind, it doesn't matter.”
